Another Monster Day Greeley is in the books and the celebration of all things monster did not disappoint! Check out some of the costumes and cosplays we saw at this year’s event in our 2022 Monster Day video.
This was the sixth year of the event. Downtown Greeley, Colorado, was overrun by a plethora of monsters, vendors, props, and decorations. It was a monstrously good time for all those involved.
One of my favorite parts about Monster Day is the assortment of photo ops and monster props created by the legendary folks at Distortions Unlimited. (You might remember them from their ‘Making Monster’ television show.) They do amazing work, and have a passion like I have never seen for monsters. (Check out this write-up about the founder, Ed and Marsha Edmunds, from John Daly.)
One of my other favorite parts is the costume contest! Dozens of well-costumed monster actors were wandering the plazas, courtesy of Anderson Farms’ Terror In The Corn, but the costume contest let’s costume makers and monster-aficionados strut their stuff on stage to show off their work. Just take a look at some of these entries and appreciate the effort and passion that went in to some of them!
Top top things off, Monster Day is about more than just celebrating your favorite monsters and having fun…it helps raise money and awareness for the anti-bullying group Don’t Be A Monster. They have some fantastic programs that address bullying in schools.
In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
were you at Monster Day this year? what was your favorite part of the event?
I’m already looking forward to next year!
