Announcements We Loved From SDCC 2019 [Podcast]
As usual, San Diego Comic Con did not disappoint when it came to big announcements made at the 2019 event. In this week’s Get Geekish podcast we discuss some of what we saw coming out of SDCC and what we’re most excited for.
Here’s some of what we touched on:
Star Trek made a big splash with a trailer for the spin-off series Star Trek: Picard. They also revealed that Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes and Martina Sirtis will appear in the new series as Data, William Riker and Deanna Troi. As well as Jeri Ryan as Sevon of Nine and Jonathan Del Arco as a Borg drone. Star Trek also gave a look at the the new Star Trek: Shorts and Lower Decks series.
The entire crew of the U.S.S. Orville attended an SDCCe panel and it was announced that season 3 of “The Orville” will move from Fox to Hulu. We didn’t get a preview, but I am excited that not having to fit broadcast formulas might make the show even better.
It feel like Marvel tried to steal the show at SDCC with all the big news they revealed:
- The Eternals movie (Was I the only one not expecting Angelia Jolie in a Marvel movie?)
- The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series on Disney+
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
- WandaVision series on Disney+
- Loki the series
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie
- Black Widowmovie (with Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour!)
- What If…? (The first animated series in the MCU, with Jeffrey Wright voicingThe Watcher
- Thor: Love and Thunder movie (With Natalie Portman taking up Thor’smantle)
- Hawkeye series (I’m excited that this will focus more on Kate Bishop than it does on the MCU’s current Hawkeye)
- Blademovie
