Destiny 2 Full Review

Destiny 2 has now been out for a little over a week and my fiance and I just beat the main story and here are our thoughts on the campaign as well as a few other things.
With jobs and obligations, its hard to just grind through video games like you used to be able to. I remember back in the day just being able to sit down and beat a game in a few hours, depending on the game that is. But a week isn’t bad I feel when you have other stuff going on.

My fiance and I started the campaign separately but decided after playing a couple of missions together to beat the game together, which made it a little more enjoyable. It’s not necessarily hard campaign by yourself but playing with friends is the main point of Destiny I feel.

Overall, the story isn’t bad, at least this time we have a story, though I feel like we could of had more. At times it felt like you were doing something because of vague details, and then you are on to something that seemed like had nothing to do with the story, until it was summed up in the end. I also wish there was a more solid story on what happened to the side characters and more on how they ended up there and why.

As for the ending, spoilers kind of, the fight against Ghaul seemed easy. Maybe because there was two of us, but I don’t know. Compared to the strikes and raids, I was expecting an epic and frustrating boss fight but, eh, kinda lack luster. Maybe it will be different on the second play through with my second character.

As for the other aspects of the game, I like the addition of the “adventures” and like that the brought back patrols, even though I got bored with them in the first one. I like that they made it worth your while to go spelunking for treasure and for people who like to roam around, they made it so you will be rewarded. Plenty of replayability to be had. Need to keep getting better armor and weapons!

There are a few flaws. At times the enemies seem to glitch and I feel that may be the servers, which I know they are still working on. Second, and this is a superficial complaint, is the shaders. Now they are consumables and I feel like the armor doesn’t look as cool. Maybe I will get used to it. Finally on to my real and only solid complaint about the game is multiplayer. While I still enjoy the crucible, I wish that it was still 6v6. Something just feels off about 4v4. That’s more of a Halo thing. I know they made the original Halos but still. When you have more than 3 friends online that want to play, its kind of a struggle. I do have to say that the actual inclusion and improvement of clans is great.

Other than that, good job Bungie. I am looking forward to the expansions.
