Movies So Bad, They’re Good [Podcast]

In this week’s podcast we go down to road of guilty pleasure movies. You know, the movies you’re almost embarrassed to own but secretly love watching. Or movies that show up on “worst” lists that you think are brilliant. Join the conversation and share some of your guilty pleasures with us.

Allow me to share with you a few of these gems:

Redneck Zombies: A 1989 zombie flick from Troma entertainment, made on a measly $10,000 budget.

“A barrel of radioactive waste is lost out in the woods. Some demented rednecks find it and use it as part of their still. Everybody who drinks from the liquor they produced turns into a zombie.”

This move was so good a punk band from Minnesota named their band after one of the characters…Ferd Mert rules!

Meet The Feebles: Another 1989  classic, and this one has star power, as it was directed by Peter Jackson. (I wonder if Peter has any regrets? This movie took the hype that was ‘The Muppets” then then twisted it into a despicable, deplorable, make-you-second-guess-your-own-humanity film.

“Heidi, the star of the “Meet The Feebles Variety Hour” discovers her lover Bletch, The Walrus, is cheating on her, and with all the world waiting for the show the assorted co-stars must contend with their own problems. These include drug addiction, extortion, robbery, disease, Drug dealing, and even murder. While this is happening the love between two of the stars is threatened by the devious Trevor the Rat, who wishes to exploit the young starlet for use in his porno movie business.”

Almost anything with Andrew Dice Clay in the early 90s, specifically Brainsmasher: A Love Story, and The Adventures of Forde Fiarlane: The Diceman made his mark in raunchy comedy, but had a couple a feature film roles that are worth far more that critics ever gave credit for. (Okay, they’re at least worth a watch.) Brainsmasher casts Clay as a nightclub bouncer who ends up helping Teri Hatcher battle Shaolin Monks. Ford Fairlane is a vulgar private detective trying to find a missing groupie and stumbles on a slew of music industry murders.

The spoof movies like The Naked Gun Trilogy as well as Hot Shots part one and Deux…Back then spoof movies were clever and had heart.

A few more movies (or series of movies) that hold a special place in, at least one of, our hearts:

The Police Academy Series
Ernest Goes to Camp (Saves Christmas, and Scared Stupid)
Water World
Major Payne

So, what are some of YOUR guilty pleasure movies. Drop ’em in the comments on here or on Facebook and we’ll add them to our watch list.
