A LOT of parents are at home trying their best to keep their kids engaged in learning. With today being May 4 (#maythe4thbewithyou), I wanted to share a little bit of Star Wars fun you can have with your kids and maybe practice a few academic skill while your at it. A Baby Yoda math coloring sheet, and a spelling/vocabulary game called “The Force.” Simple, easy, and not a lot of work to put together.
(Don’t get me started on the “but that’s not what it’s called” argument most kids learning math know it as “Baby Yoda.”
Just print out the one my wife made and let your kid go to town. It;;’s a color-by-number, but they have to solve each math equation to figure out what color they need to use. (You could do this with just about any coloring sheet or drawing.)
This one requires some note cards, a pen/marker (I advise against Sharpies as you can read permanent marker through note cards), and your kiddo’s spelling/vocab words (At least 15-20 words).
First, write each word on a note card. Then Write “The Force” on 5 additional note cards and combine them all together.
Spelling variant: Instead of player drawing their own cards, their opponent (or a parent) draws a card to read aloud, the player must then spell the word correctly to win the point, or have the card placed back in the pile.
Extra Challenge Variant: Create an extra challenge that mus be complete to use “The Force” cards by requiring players to read/spell a tougher or more complicated word.
