A story about a young dinosaur that dreams of being a superhero? Yup. that’s the premise of a new kids book called ‘I Wish I Were a Superhero‘ written by Sarah E. Paul. I first met Sarah a few years back as a cosplayer (and we talk about one of my favorite moments about her Wonder Woman in the podcast). She has a knack for engaging people, especially young ones, so when I found out she was publishing something, I wanted to invite her on to ‘get geekish’ about her book. We talk about he inspiration, what goes in to publishing, some of our favorite books, and even we end up talking about She-Ra action figures too. Give it a listen:
Having a daughter that falls right in the demographic crosshairs for a book like this gets me jazzed because a story that aims to inspire children to explore their interests, work hard for their goals, AND says that dinosaurs are cool, is a story I can get on board with.
The artwork looks fantastic too. Sarah partnered with Tara Lehning to bring her little dino-friend to life, and judging by the few images I’ve seen, she did an amazing job.
